Jackson (Henry Clay) House is built.
1885
Architect: Allen & Kenway. Built for the wealthy and eccentric dry goods merchant and banker, it is located at 208 Commonwealth Avenue. The building is subsequently divided into apartments, one of which is rented by spy novelist Rodney Williams Whitaker, who uses it as the fictional home of the protagonist of some of his novels.
